Our Standards @Offcuts Kitchen

What We Mean by Regeneratively Raised

At Offcuts Kitchen, we source ingredients from farmers and ranchers who go beyond sustainability—they actively regenerate the land.

“Regeneratively raised” means animals are raised in ways that rebuild soil health, support ecosystem biodiversity, and help reverse climate change by increasing soil carbon. Our sourcing partners use practices grounded in well-established ecological principles, including:

Adaptive Grazing

Animals are moved frequently across pasture in a way that mimics natural herd behavior. This allows grasses to recover, promotes diverse root systems, and stimulates microbial life in the soil.

No Tillage or Chemical Inputs

Our partner farms avoid synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides. This protects water quality, improves soil structure, and fosters natural nutrient cycles.

Living Roots Year-Round

Cover crops or perennial pastures keep living roots in the soil throughout the year—feeding soil biology and preventing erosion.

Integrated, Low-Stress Animal Systems

Animals are raised in open environments that prioritize natural behavior and low stress. Manure is recycled back into the land as a natural fertilizer.

Supported by Science

The regenerative practices behind our sourcing approach are supported by independent research from academic institutions, soil science organizations, and conservation groups.

Key resources include:

  • "Soil Carbon Sequestration Potential of Regenerative Grazing" (Journal of Soil and Water Conservation)

  • Rodale Institute: Regenerative Agriculture and the Soil Carbon Solution

  • General Principles from Savory Institute and Regeneration International

We are not certified under a single national regenerative standard—but we are transparent. We vet our supply chain carefully and only work with producers whose practices align with these regenerative benchmarks.

Why It Matters

We believe better food starts with better soil. By sourcing regeneratively raised ingredients, we’re helping:

  • Draw carbon out of the atmosphere

  • Restore degraded farmland

  • Support independent family farms

  • Produce more nutrient-dense food
